what exactly is it?

Tangent Universe's appear is science fiction, or those who are familiar with Donnie Darko. For those who haven't a clue about this strange thing, I'll explain it.

We all live in what most would call the forth dimension, or the Primary Universe. Here, we are exposed to war, disease, famine and the elements themselves. This dimension is stable, time goes on, this is the only world you've ever known.

Extremely rare instances happen though. Where the heart of the whole universe skips a beat and becomes corrupted. If this glitch occurs, a Tangent Universe is formed. These worlds are highly unstable, often connecting different dimensions easily. It also renders anyone inside unable to escape back to primary world until this 'fake' universe is destroyed.

Eventually the Tangent will either collapse in on itself, forming a black hole, or grow. Consuming the universe it spawned out of. Either way, all of existence is threatened to be destroyed unless the Tangent can be taken down. Find its source, a power supply that is keeping the molecules into place.

what can be found inside the tangent

While inside the tangent universe, you will be exposed to any energy moving about. Normally this is harmless, the Tangent Universe mimics the Primary to a T. But holes, openings from other dimensions that we can't being to think of, can latch on and pose a threat.

Parasites are worm and insect like monsters from one of these that has appeared in the Tangent. No one knows where they come from or how their bodies are able to survive, but they have one disturbing capability; they re-animate the dead. While inside a dead body, the parasite can link into it's memories and behaviors. This may seem frightening, but parasites are hard to find, and even if you come across one they're pretty easy to spot. Not only do they pose a threat in the Tangent, taking down the fake universe might release these demons into our world if not taken care of immediately.

You'll know these intruders instantly. Extra limbs, strange or exotic behavior, odd/rotten smell, oozing blood/liquids, fish-like characteristics, and a crave for flesh. Some hide these features well, others don't. When infected by the parasite, the parasite steals your personality, they become you. Be careful who you trust.

how do I role-play in this place?

Like stated before, life on the other side isn't all that different for our world. But most importantly, once you enter the Tangent, you cannot leave. The portal, or worm hole, that has brought your character to the other side doesn't allow access out because basically the Tangent is eating/consuming molecules of our real universe, the Primary.

This leaves the creatures to form their own ranks and plot how to get out of this damned land and deal with each other.
